Chicago — Mike Bianco, senior vice-president of global operations & distribution for Jelly Belly Candy Co., is the recipient of the 2014 Kettle Award.
A 2005 Candy Hall of Fame inductee, Bianco began his career in the industry in 1979 with See’s Candies, Inc. as maintenance manager. He joined Jelly Belly in 1984 and has held a number of roles with the company including vice-president of operations.
His industry involvement includes serving on the PMCA education committee, the NCA technical committee, and president, among other positions, for the American Association of Candy Technologists. In addition, he has served as president, chairperson, and board and committee member of the Western Candy Conference, which honored him with its Candy Maker of the Year Award in 2002. Further, he received the NCA’s Distinguished Service Award in 2009.
Bianco was presented with the Kettle Award, which recognizes an individual who has contributed to the good of the industry, during a ceremony held last night at the Union League Club of Chicago.
