North Kingstown, RI — Aiming to provide a more environmentally friendly clear barrier film solution, Toray Plastic (America), Inc. is introducing Torayfan CBS2 BOPP film.

The high oxygen and moisture barrier material is designed to be used as an inside seal for salty snacks, cookies, crackers, granola, fruit and nut mixes and candy items, the company reports.

In addition, the film can be used to replace coated OPP and PET films and is a more economical choice compared with aluminum oxide (AIOx)-coated films, Toray claims, adding the film’s 70- and 80-gauge weight presents a thinner option than OPP materials

“PVdC is not acceptable to today’s end users who want a clear barrier film that is environment-friendly,” says Kerri Boyens, product manager, Torayfan Division. “PVdC-free CBS2 film is an innovative solution that offers excellent barrier functionality without PVdC’s environmental issues.”
