Washington — Helping companies protect themselves in a litigious environment through better understanding of labeling laws and regulations is the aim of the NCA’s Labeling Basics and Beyond course, being held July 8 and 9 in Washington.
The course will give attendees a foundation of what is necessary on the principal display panel, information panel and nutrition facts panel during the first day. On the second day, current “hot topics” will be discussed, including proposed changes to the nutrition fact panel, claims, standard of identity issues and class action lawsuits that are becoming more predatory in targeting food labeling, the NCA reports.
Upon completion, students will be able to review packs to ensure they are in compliance with the FDA and assess risks associated with making product claims, according to the Association.
