Ingredion Opening 24 Innovation Centers By Year’s End

Westchester, IL — Aiming to give its customers access to consumer-centric ways to develop innovative and profitable products, Ingredion, Inc. is opening three Idea Labs in this country, with an additional 21 planned worldwide, the company reports.

Ingredion Idea Labs, which will initially be located in Bedford Park, IL; Indianapolis, IN; and a global center in Bridgewater, NJ, will be dedicated to fostering science-based collaborations and problem solving for the industry in four key areas: consumer insights, applied research, applications knowhow and process technology.

Tony Delio, senior vice-president and chief innovation officer, says: “We are pushing the boundaries of product functionality and how we identify and address deep-seated consumer preferences.”

The network of labs is part of the company’s commitment to expanding and rebranding its R&D and technical services. Ingredion customers in 100 countries will be able to utilize the services, offering greater depth and scale than before, according to Vice-President, Global Development Joseph Light. “The labs combine sweetness, texture and cost optimization capabilities with nutrition, clean label, delivery systems and biomaterials expertise and facilities,” Light adds.
