New York City — Narrowed down from 2,737 submissions, the Specialty Food Association (SFA) presented six confectionery and snack manufacturers with sofi Awards during the Summer Fancy Food Show.
The winners included:
Chocolate: Popcorn Toffee Squares, from Poco Dolce Confections
Classic: Gray Salt Caramel, from Fran’s Chocolates. Ltd.
Cookie: Millionaire Shortbread with Smoked Hickory Sea Salt, from the Sticky Toffee Pudding Co.
Confection: Bourbon Nib Brittle, from Olive and Sinclair Chocolate Co.
Cracker: Governor’s Cheddar Crackers, from Castleton Crackers
Snack Food: Dang Toasted Coconut Chips, from Dang Foods, LLC
The largest contest in the award’s 42-year history, the initial selections were whittled down to 125 finalists by a panel of specialty food professionals during an eight-day tasting and evaluation process, the SFA reports. From there the winners were voted on by 275 buyers at the Summer Fancy Food Show, with the final results tabulated by an outside accounting firm.
Presented this year by acclaimed pastry chef Dominique Ansel, the awards are open to SFA members.
