Woonsocket, RI — CVS/pharmacy is launching its Gold Emblem Abound brand, a line of 40 healthful snacks, as well as Fit Choices, an in-store tagging initiative to guide shoppers to items geared to their dietary needs, parent company CVS Caremark Corp. reports.
Made without artificial flavors, preservatives and trans fats, the Gold Emblem line includes trail mixes, snack bars, rice chips, popcorn and dried fruit as well as certified gluten-, sodium- and cholesterol-free items containing sources of omega-3 fatty acids, probiotic cultures, fiber and protein.
The bright green packs call out nutritional benefits and carry a SRP range of $2.19 to $10.99. They will be available in more than 7,600 CVS/pharmacy locations nationally.
“We developed the line to taste great and help people on their path to better health,” George Coleman, vice-president of merchandising, store brands and quality assurance, explains. “We’re confident our customers will love the products as much as we do.
In addition, the company is kicking off the national rollout of Fit Choices, a program that uses shelf tags to identify food items meeting strict nutritional guidelines in four categories: heart healthy, sugarfree, gluten-free and organic. Coordinated color signage will guide shoppers to the featured areas.
