London — Blommer Chocolate Co. joins Mondelez International, Inc., Mars, Inc., Barry Callebaut AG and more than 30 other cocoa stakeholders in signing the Abidjan Cocoa Declaration, which makes recommendations for achieving a sustainable global cocoa supply chain. The Declaration was introduced at the World Cocoa Conference in November and includes instructions for stakeholders on farmer training and best agricultural practices. By singing the declaration, President and CEO Peter Blommer is committing to develop and implement plans to improve the quality of cocoa farmers' lives and their crops — an activity in which the company already partakes. ICCO says Blommer currently has multiple privately managed programs to promote sustainable farming in Ivory Coast, Ecuador and Indonesia. Another World Cocoa Conference will be held in 2014 to monitor and review the progress of the Declaration and the ICCO Global Cocoa Agenda. February 26, 2013
