Food Technologist, Flavorist Join Ottens

Philadelphia — Henry H. Ottens Mfg. Co. Inc.’s Ottens flavors division has appointed Negin Sharafbafi to senior food technologist of the company’s Innovation Team and Steffen Scheide to senior flavorist of the savory group. Technical Director David Thomson says: “Negin brings Ottens a wealth of research experience and an enthusiasm for understanding the function of flavor and flavor delivery in product applications. She will be a great asset to our ongoing efforts to create innovative and novel flavors and delivery processes.” Prior to joining Ottens, Sharafbafi worked in research at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, and she has served as an instructor and conducted research as part of the Sensory Team at the Guelph Food Technology Center in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. She began her career at Coca-Cola in Tehran. Scheide, who serves as section chair-elect for the Washington, D.C., section of the Institute of Food Technologists, has extensive experience in the savory industry, Ottens reports. Having worked as a flavorist at Summit Hill Flavors in Middlesex, NJ, in addition to managing research, product development and applications for Summit Hill, he also held positions in quality, operations, sales, regulatory, research and technical services.
