April 18, 2013
Brussels — The European cocoa grind reached its second-lowest first-quarter point in ten years for the first quarter of 2012/2013, according to the European Cocoa Association (ECA).
The grind totaled 339,377 tons this quarter, a pace that the ECA estimates will result in the lowest yearly total since 2005. Down 3.9 percent compared with the same quarter in 2012, the grind hasn’t been so low since 2009. Prior to 2009, this quarter’s figures are the lowest since 2002.
