Distributor Coregistics Acquires Cano Packaging
June 4, 2013
Atlanta — In an effort to expand its geographic coverage, packaging and delivery company Coregistics has acquired Chicago-based Cano Packaging, Corp., which specializes in cartoning, V/F/F/S, high-speed pouching and overwrapping.
The purchase follows Coregistics’ April 2012 acquisition of Market Resource Packaging, which allowed the firm to establish supply chain centers in Atlanta, New Jersey, Indianapolis and Memphis.
“Adding Chicago to this mix now solidifies our geographical coverage, enhances our primary packaging capabilities and provides the step change Coregistics has been planning since its inception,” Coregistic CEO Eric Wilhelm says.
Capacity for food and confectionery packaging services is limited and Cano provides capabilities for short runs and frequent changeovers that manufacturers do not have internally, Wilhelm adds. Founded in 1974, Cano operates out of an 180,000-square-foot facility and offers services ranging from labeling and kit assembly to shrink-wrapping and date coding.
