Vevey, Switzerland — Nestle SA has launched a “Balance Your Plate with Nestle” campaign in which it urges consumers to plan their meals around Nestle frozen foods and eat properly proportioned meals.
The free, downloadable Balance Your Plate toolkit features daily meal plans that meet the standard goals for a 2,000-calorie diet and includes handouts, fact sheets and instructions for professionals giving Balance Your Plate presentations.
The campaign is a play on the USDA’s MyPlate program, in which Nestle is a strategic partner. Nestle says it launched the Balance Your Plate program after a consumer survey showed 75 percent of consumers are either not at all or somewhat familiar with MyPlate.
“A key benefit of the 'Balance Your Plate' program is that it promotes greater nutrient density with every meal,” Chavanne Hanson, MPH, RD, LD and Nestle USA consultant says. “This commitment to balanced nutrition extends to our new product lines too. Concepts like Lean Cuisine Salad Additions were created to increase consumption of vegetables, while still giving consumers great taste and convenience.”
