Princeton, WI — Allen R. Allured, the second-generation publisher of Manufacturing Confectioner, died this week, aged 86.
Prior to joining his parents’ magazine, Allured served in the U.S. Army during both World War II and the Korean War. During his long career, he served on the NCA’s Long-Term Planning Committee, was a member of the Pennsylvania Manufacturing Confectioners Association Executive Committee and was an American Wholesale Marketers Association Industry Dean.
Allured was a recipient of the Stroud Jordan Award from the American Association of Candy Technologists, the Retail Confectioners International President’s Award and the National Candy Brokers Association’s Silver Kettle Award.
He was inducted into the National Confectionery Sales Association’s Candy Hall of Fame in 1998.
