Phoenix, AZ — Nielsen Holdings N.V.’s 2013 Breakthrough Innovation Winners include General Mills Inc.’s Fiber One 90 Calorie Brownies, The Hershey Co.’s Reese’s Minis, Nestle USA, Inc.’s Skinny Cow Candy, and the Kellogg Co.’s Special K Cracker Chips.
Nielsen chose thirteen consumer products from a pool of more than 3,400 items introduced in 2011 to determine the results. The selected products were required to deliver a new value proposition, generate sales of $50 million or more in their first year on the market and achieve at least 90 percent of first-year sales in the second year.
Nielsen Senior Vice-President Taddy Hall says: “Breakthrough Innovation companies achieve uncommon results because of their ability to pursue, shape, develop and activate insights that deliver what consumers demand. These winners challenged convention and triumphed by expanding or transforming categories. It is through their unencumbered, demand-driven development that Breakthrough Winners create visible separation from the pack.”
