Chicago — Arway Confections, Inc. has acquired Long Grove Confectionery Co., including its 50 employees, two retail stores, portfolio of approximately 300 products and 85,000-square-foot factory in Buffalo Grove.
Arway President and Owner Craig Leva will lead the joint company and plans to retain Long Grove's name and staff, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Leva says: “We are very excited about this acquisition, the tremendous opportunities and the natural synergies there are by combining the operations of these two great storied Chicago-area companies.”
Founded in 1974 by John and Heidi Mangel, Long Grove offers premium candy and chocolate for specialty retail. Its most popular item is the caramel-pecan milk chocolate Myrtle, the company claims. Arway is known for its candy and nut mixes and contract manufacturing operations.
