Plano, TX — Frito-Lay North America has unveiled its first of eight planned Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling stations in Beloit, WI, a part of the company’s commitment to alternative fuel.
This year, the company plans to build seven more stations and employ more than 200 CNG tractors, which will make up 20 percent of the company’s total fleet. By 2020, Frito-Lay says it hopes to reduce its total fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent.
The initiative stems from the firm’s 2012 request for proposal to potential partners in which it guaranteed to purchase a base volume from that vendor’s station. Questar Fueling and Trillium CNG were selected to build the new stations.
