Buffalo, NY — Host of NBC’s “Today” Kathy Lee Gifford celebrated her birthday on the show with a cake decorated in SweetWorks, Inc.’s Celebration brand Shimmer White Gumballs, Sixlets and Pearls hard candy.
The SweetWorks candy was used to resemble bubbles on top of edible champagne glasses surrounding the cake, made by Hello, Cupcake! authors Karen Tack and Alan Richardson.
Tack says: “Kathie Lee Gifford has always been a true supporter of our crazy cupcaking. So when the Today Show asked us to create a giant cake for her 60th birthday episode, we cleared our schedule and jumped right in. We decided on a couple of themes — celebrating and family.”
In addition to the champagne glasses, the three-tier cake features the names of Lee’s family and friends, including her husband Frank and son Cody, and symbols that represent important parts of her life, such as a dog bone and the “Today” logo. It also includes an edible Kathy Lee cake topper.
