Vienna — PerfoamPack co-extruded polyethylene film can reduce raw material use and pack weight by up to 20 percent, according to supplier Mondi Consumer Packaging International AG.

The company says the film is made with a micro-cellular expanded middle layer that allows for a lower weight with reduced thickness, resulting in a lighter film that lowers costs and improve carbon footprints.

In addition, the expandable middle layer can help trim overall pack weight without diminishing the thickness or compromising performance, Mondi reports. Further, this element also allows manufacturers to increase pack thickness without adding weight.

PerfoamPack is suitable for mono-layer polyethylene packaging films as well as laminates with the conventional mechanical properties need to protect products, according to the company.
