Pontefract, West Yorkshire — Haribo GmbH & Co. KG is spending $109 million to build a 30,700 square meter factory in Castleford, UK.

Slated to open in April 2015, the new facility is expected to have an annual capacity of 48,000 metric tons of candy per year, including Tangfastics and Starmix.

Haribo UK Managing Director Herwig Vennekens says: “This investment in a new facility will enhance Haribo’s production capabilities and help us meet the growing demand for our products. Our existing factory is near capacity and so this new site will allow for progressive expansion, enabling us to continue to extend our offering and develop new and innovative products.”
