East Hanover, NJ — Mondelez International, Inc. is promoting its brands through sponsorship of the U.S. Soccer team, popular Mexican soccer team Club Deportivo Guadalajara and three players from Major League Soccer.
The deals will highlight the company’s cookies, candy, crackers and gum brands through all forms of media, retail, shopper marketing, consumer promotions, public relations and social media, Mondelez reports.
The sponsorships include a three-year deal to be the Official Snack of U.S. Soccer for both Men’s and Women’s National Teams and a three-year term to serve as the Official Snack of Club Deportivo Guadalajara, commonly known as Chivas.
In addition, Mondelez will have individual marketing deals with Clint Dempsey, of the Seattle Sounders FC; Alex Morgan, of the Portland Thorns FC; and Omar Gonzales, of the LA Galaxy.
Stephen Chriss, Mondelez senior director, North America consumer engagement and marketing services, says: “Soccer is truly the world’s sport, which is a natural fit for these iconic brands. The connection to soccer will help reinforce in real time our role in supporting and fueling the interests of all our consumers and retail partners.”
