Washington — Unit sales are rebounding as the overall category had increases of 0.7 percent and 1.2 percent for the past four and 12 weeks, respectively, according to Information Resources, Inc. numbers from the NCA. Category dollar sales also grew.
Unit sales for chocolate rose 2.4 percent during the past 12 weeks, ending September 8, while non-chocolate gained 2.2 percent during the same period. Chocolate dollar sales increased 6.1 percent and non-chocolate gained 4.5 percent.
For the past 52 weeks, ending September 8, overall category dollars sales increased 2.5 percent, while units were still soft, decreasing 1.1 percent for the same time period.
