Stamford, CT — The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co., a subsidiary of Mars, Inc., has been awarded Keep America Beautiful’s 2013 Vision for America Award for its environmental stewardship.
The award, bestowed yesterday in Chicago, recognizes the company’s “significant leadership role in social and environmental stewardship, philanthropy and enlightened corporate citizenship,” according to Keep America Beautiful. Wrigley has supported the organization since its founding in 1953.
Wrigley President Martin Radvan says: “We are honored to be recognized for our commitment to environmental stewardship, which we strive to bring to life within our business operations, through our associates and across the communities we touch.”
Among the accomplishments cited in granting the award are Wrigley’s efforts to achieve zero waste to landfill and reduce absolute energy use each year; its “Go Green” sustainable workplace practices initiative; participation in the Mars Volunteer Program and Mars Ambassador Program, particularly for cleaning and greening volunteer projects; providing strategic marketing expertise to strengthen the Keep America Beautiful brand; commitment to seeking sustainable ingredients and suppliers; and its involvement in environmental education.
