Tampa, FL — The NCSA honored six new candy and snack items representing the best of their categories with New Product Awards at the 114th Annual Candy Hall of Fame event held this weekend at the Tampa International Plaza Hotel.
Mars Chocolate North America won two awards: Snickers Bites in the Chocolate category and Combos 7-Layer Dip in the Snacks group. The Licensed/Limited Edition honor went to Jelly Belly Candy Co.’s Tabasco Bottles; Twizzlers Bites from The Hershey Co. took the prize for Non-Chocolate; Lindy & Sprüngli (USA) Inc.’s Lindor Caramel Milk Chocolate Truffles won in the Premium/Gourmet class; and Impact Confections, Inc.’s Warheads Super Sour Candy Canes claimed the award in the Seasonal category.
“These products represent new items with the greatest sales potential in their respective categories,” says NCSA Executive Director Steve Forster. “The NCSA feels it’s important to recognize the latest innovations in its efforts to advance the confectionery industry.”
Crystal trophies were presented to representatives of the winning companies and the finalists in each category received certificates of achievement at Saturday night’s Candy Hall of Fame Banquet, where 13 industry stalwarts were inducted.
