Harry D. Callie Dies At Age 80

Mountainhome, PA — Harry D. Callie, founder of Callie’s Candy Kitchen, died Oct. 24. He was 80 years old.

A recipient of the Retail Confectioners International’s (RCI) Master Confectioner award and a 2011 NCSA Candy Hall of Fame inductee, Callie worked in the industry for nearly 60 years as a candymaker, instructor and consultant. He opened Callie’s Candy Kitchen in 1972 and Callie’s Pretzel Factory in 1985 in Mountainhome, PA, prior to completing the RCI’s Gus Pulakos Candy School. His wife, Carol, is co-owner of the business and his three daughters and son-in-law also work for the company.

He is survived by his wife, three daughters and three grandchildren.
