Zurich — A new barrier liner for bag-in-box products, Amcor Vodex Generation II, offers increased focus on food protection, environmental awareness and cost effectiveness, according to supplier Amcor Ltd.
The company reports the new packs offer a barrier from moisture while maintaining breathability. In addition, Amcor cites an independent study that finds products packed with internal barriers are less exposed to mineral oil residuals than products packed using other materials.
The results of these features include extended product shelf life, easier opening, increases to packaging machine performance, better packaging machine performance and better value through more opportunities to downgauge customer film requirements, the company claims.
Vice-President of Amcor Flexibles Europe & Americas, Food & Beverage, Amy Byrick says: “We believe Amcor Vodex Generation II is the most complete and cost-effective solution to today's marketplace needs. A barrier liner such as Amcor Vodex, directly next to the food, helps protect it from external sources of contaminant which is a significant advantage compared with the use of virgin carton board alone.”
