Washington — The 2013 Halloween sales results and tips to improve seasonal merchandising around the category's biggest selling period will be covered during a webinar December 5, at 1 pm (EST) as part of the NCA’s Sweet Insights program.
Hosted by Larry Wilson, NCA vice-president of customer relations, the webinar will review the category’s performance for this past year as well as look at trends in merchandising and promotions to boost overall retail sales across channels.
The information will also review factors that influence consumers' spending decisions regarding holidays and how channel blurring affects seasonal sales. Attendees will also gain insights on how to better prepare for Halloween 2014. Wilson tells Candy & Snack TODAY that the webinar will look at consumption data, advertising and promotional support levels and how that all translated into consumer takeaway.
“We projected a one percent growth for this season and we are optimistic that we have exceeded that,” Wilson says. He notes that all the holiday data aren't currently available, but the sales look encouraging.
“Likely the sales data will indicate that retailers who executed merchandising and promotions well won the day,” he says, adding: “During the webinar we'll talk about what good execution means as well.”
