Plano, TX — In partnership with the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), Frito-Lay North America, Inc. inaugurates its “Create to Celebrate Black History Month” online art contest that will award cash prizes for the top three entries chosen by consumers’ votes, according to the company.
For each vote cast, Frito-Lay will donate $1, up to a total of $20,000, to UNCF.
Frito-Lay Senior Director of Marketing Haston Lewis says: “Through our partnership with UNCF, we will provide scholarships to help more artists and students reach their full potential by getting the education they need.” UNCF supports more than 60,000 minority students at more than 900 colleges and universities through scholarships and other programs.
Today through February 15, artists age 18 and older can register and upload an image of their original work of art in any medium celebrating African American achievements in history at celebratecommunityarts.com. From February 16 through March 1, consumers age 13 and older can visit the site to select the top 25 semifinalists.
Winners will be selected by a panel of judges on artistic merit, creativity and relevance to Black History Month. The grand prize winner, announced on or about March 27, will receive $10,000, the second-place winner will be awarded $5,000 and a $2,500 check will go to the third-place winner.
