Grand Rapids, MI —Meijer, Inc. has installed free Wi-Fi capability throughout its more than 200 stores, the company reports.

More than two million shoppers now have access to the grocer’s mobile app and digital coupons through their mPerks accounts without drawing on their smart phone data plan, according to Michael Ross, vice-president of customer marketing and emerging technology.

“Our customers are relying on digital tools more than ever as they shop, and we are providing them with resources to enhance their shopping experience,” he explains, noting the mPerks plan has a redemption rate of up to four times the national average.

In addition to digital coupons, Meijer’s free downloadable mobile app for iPhone and Android smart phones allows users to make and manage shopping lists, browse and save sale items to the list, tally savings earned through baby and pharmacy reward programs, access maps to store locations and search and find items within stores.
