Washington — Registration is open for the 2014 Sweets & Snacks Expo, being held at McCormick Place in Chicago, May 20-22.
According to the NCA, which sponsors the event, exhibitor space on the expanded 150,000-square-foot show floor is sold out and there is a waiting list of prospective exhibitors. In addition, all 84 booths in the Gourmet Marketplace are filled, indicating the 2014 Expo could be the most successful in the show’s 18-year history.
NCA President Larry Graham says: “We are committed to finding innovative ways to grow the Expo, including an emphasis on new confectionery and snack products, distinct exhibit space for organic, natural and gourmet products, highlighting international companies, and exploration of the latest trends in shopper marketing. We serve all your confectionery snack needs in one place.”
A European Confectionery Pavilion with more than 100 companies from 25 countries will debut at the 2014 Expo. Noting the double-digit growth in international participation at the 2013 Expo, Tim Quinn, Expo chairman and vice-president of trade development for Mars Chocolate North America, explains: “The global marketplace is growing at a fast rate, and it’s essential that the Expo provide access to more product categories from more international companies.”
Complementing the exhibits is a suite of keynote speakers and an educational program featuring strategic direction in leadership, customer service and health and wellness from experts such as Zappos.com CEO, Founder Tony Hsieh, ESPN Commentator Jeremy Schaap and NBC Chief Medical Editor Nancy Snyderman, MD.
In addition, the Virtual Media Center, introduced in 2013, will allow exhibitors to post and send news releases over social media, and the enhanced Expo app includes a user-friendly desktop planner that helps users build their schedule in advance.
The Association reports 616 companies exhibited a record number of confectionery and snack products at the 2013 Expo, and more than 15,000 qualified industry professionals attended, including buyers from all major trade channels, representing more than 90 countries.
