Mequon, WI — Kendall Packaging Corp.’s manufacturing operation in Pittsburg, KS, has achieved Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) 22000:Publicly Available Specification (PAS) 223 as recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), the company reports.
According to Kendall, the Kansas facility earned certification on its initial attempt within a nine-month timeframe, and because the company is GMP-, HACCP- and ISO-9001 certified, the FSSC 22000:PAS 223 designation marks it as a GFSI-accredited food safety operation.
Kendall President and CEO Eric Erickson III says: “By achieving GFSI (FSSC) 22000:PAS 223, we continue to lead the flexible packaging industry in food safety initiatives. The certification demonstrates our commitment to producing safe, high-quality food packaging.”
The manufacturer notes its Jefferson, WI, plant is adding the research and development specification to the scope of its GFSI audit, and will begin stage 1 of the program in spring 2014.
