Chicago — Registration for the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) 2014 Annual Meeting & Food Expo, to be held June 21 to 24 in the New Orleans Morial Convention Center is under way, the non-profit association reports.
In addition to more than 1,000 poster presentations on developments and trends in food science, the scientific program will include sessions on food safety, product development, food health and nutrition, environmental sustainability and innovative processing and packaging, according to the IFT. Further, the exhibit hall will feature food ingredients, packaging and equipment from an estimated 900 exhibitors.
Featured speakers include Doug Rauch, former president of Trader Joe’s; Hod Lipson, PhD, Cornell University professor of engineering; and Jane Karuku, president of AGRA, former managing director for East and Central Africa for Mondelez International’s Cadbury brand and former deputy chief executive and secretary general Telekom Kenya.
Because this year’s meeting marks the organization’s 75th anniversary, a celebration titled Diamonds & Donations is planned for June 22 at Generations Hall. Proceeds will benefit the IFT’s foundation, Feeding Tomorrow.
