FMI, Retail Dietitians Launch Online Toolkit

Chicago — An online interactive toolkit to aid retailers in hiring, training and empowering in-store dietitians has been rolled out by the Food Marketing Institute (FMI) and the Retail Dietitians Business Alliance (RDBA).

“Hiring, Leveraging & Empowering Retail Dietitians,” available at retaildietitians.com/toolkit/, includes detailed descriptions of the role of dietitians in retail, sample job descriptions and guidance about fitting dietitians into the corporate structure on the basis of retail size and markets. The resource aims to help retailers work with dietitians for the benefit of consumers, businesses and the public at large, according to the FMI and RDBA.

Phil Lempert, Alliance CEO explains: “Retail dietitians are a filter of health information for customers and play an integral role in the store. In addition to the employer, this toolkit can help retail dietitians better define their jobs within the corporate structure.”

In addition to the toolkit, the RDBA supports retail registered dietitians and retailers with training and information through special events, in newsletters and online.
