Debra Sandler became President of Mars Chocolate North America in April 2012. Previously she was chief consumer officer of Mars with responsibility for the marketing and cross-functional business management teams for M&Ms, Filled Bar, Dove, the seasonal business and all brand innovation. Debra also led the work on the health and wellness platform and drove consumer insights and communications across the business.
Prior to Mars, Debra was worldwide president of McNeil Nutritionals, a division of Johnson & Johnson. She joined J&J in 1999 as vice president of marketing in charge of the launch of Splenda no-calorie-sweetener. Debra was a founding leader in building the nutritionals division into a profitable business unit within the consumer group of J&J. She was also co-chair of the J&J Women’s Leadership Initiative, representing the views and needs of women across the globe within J&J. Debra started her career at PepsiCo where she spent 13 years in marketing leadership positions in the beverage and restaurant businesses.
Debra received her international business degree from Hofstra University, an M.B.A. from New York University’s Stern School of Business, and an Honorary Ph.D. from Long Island University.
