This year Linda celebrates 25 successful years at Safeway. She started her career at Safeway in 1988 as Manager of Marketing Systems. Throughout the 1990’s as Director of Marketing Business Processes, Linda led multi- functional teams in the successful post-merger acquisition of the Von’s, Dominick’s, Randall’s, Thom Thumb, Carr’s and Genuardi’s companies. In 2000 she was appointed to the Board of Directors of the World Wide Retail Exchange and represented Safeway in collaborating with 62 global retailers in defining Business to Business best practices in Buying, Collaboration, New Item Introduction and Sourcing over the Internet. In 2003 Linda was promoted to VP of Supply Chain Strategies. In 2005 she was promoted to Group VP Supply Chain, responsible for Procurement and Global Strategic Sourcing of all National Brands and Private Label finished goods and raw materials sourcing for Safeway’s 31 manufacturing plants. Linda developed best practices in supply chain efficiencies, received the GMA industry awards for Supply Chain Collaboration, was honored by Stanford University for advancing the Supply Chain through innovation, collaboration and implementing Sustainable Supply Chain practices. In 2010 she was appointed to her current position with a P&L responsibility of $2.3 Billion annually. Linda’s strategies have driven profitable sales growth in categories spanning all Confection, Inline, Seasonal, Single Bars and Gifting Chocolate to Paper, Laundry, Household Cleaning, Greeting Cards, Housewares, Media and all other home care and general merchandise categories. One of Linda’s passions is mentoring and developing Safeway’s future leaders. She is VP Moderator for Safeway’s Learning and Leadership program. She is a Network of Executive Women Committee member, leading the College Outreach and Mentoring program. Linda holds a B.A. from St. Mary’s College of California in Integral, a Liberal Arts degree focused on studying the Great Works in Ancient Greek and forming one’s own opinions on math and science.
