Gumdrop Cake

Ingredients: gumdrops

1 cup shortening
2 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1 pound gumdrops
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup walnuts
1 1/2 cup applesauce
3 1/2 cup flour

Directions:

  1. Mix all dry ingredients together.
  2. Beat in shortening, eggs and applesauce.
  3. Fold in gumdrops and walnuts.
  4. Put mixture in a greased and floured Bundt pan. Bake at 325° for 2 - 2 1/2 hours.
  5. Cake is done when toothpick comes out clean. Cool slightly and remove cake from pan.
