
If you are interested in serving on a committee, please email the appropriate staff contact. Committees comprise a limited number of participants and require approval by the committee chairperson. Terms of service are normally three years. Each committee usually meets at least once a year.
Sets policy and direction for all NCA objectives, programs and activities following the Association’s mission and strategic plan. All committees report to these governing bodies.

Promotes free and open communication among the Board of Trustees, the independent auditors, and the management of the NCA. Is responsible for the preparation, objectivity, and integrity of NCA’s financial statements and related information.

Partners with the brokerage community to assist the confectionery industry in the furthering of sales and merchandising programs in all retail outlets.

Ensures a coordinated voice between U.S. chocolate users and manufacturers to focus on unique issues related to chocolate and cocoa.

A forum for member companies to assist NCA and the Chocolate Council in developing a communications plan to promote and defend chocolate and cocoa.

Provides oversight and leadership to NCA on regulatory, scientific and policy-oriented issues affecting or potentially affecting chocolate and the cocoa supply chain.

An active forum for member companies to help the Association develop integrated communications outreach to members and the industry, opinion leaders, customers/trade and the public.

Supports trade initiatives and growth for the confectionery industry. Provides leadership to advance and promote confectionery to customers across all channels. Initiatives include research opportunities to maximize sales, provide insights on consumer shopping behavior and share leading business practices to support industry development.

Communicates key regulations to small- and medium-sized members using interactive, web-based resources to discuss challenges facing the confectionery industry.

Assesses and proposes initiatives, recommends budget for efforts, monitors execution and ensures communication with NCA and industry stakeholders of international efforts.

Provides leadership and direction on NCA’s Health Influencers Strategy and on health or nutrition science-based developments that impact candy.

Develops and follows investment strategy, goals and policies while being a resource as needed for financial decisions.

Identifies and assists in setting policy strategies on an annual and longer term basis. Provides strategic oversight on regulatory and legislative public policy issues including health/nutrition, advertising, food safety, CSR, labeling, sugar, and trade policy. Advises when separate issue-based task forces are required.

Provides direction, guidance and strategy of NCA’s state legislative advocacy efforts. Coordinates communication efforts with state government officials, key legislative and government staff, third party advocates and other education groups. Improves the relationship with state government officials to enhance understanding of the confectionary industry.
