Industry Issues

NCA is involved in many policy and regulatory issues of importance to the confectionery industry. On behalf of its members and the industry, NCA engages with Congress, federal agencies and state governments to protect, promote and advance the industry. Key Issues

Sugar - NCA supports reform of the U.S. sugar program to put an end to tight sugar supplies, high sugar prices, plant closures, job losses, and unnecessary and wasteful government intrusion on domestic sugar production.

Trade - The U.S. currently has free trade agreements with 20 nations, which open markets through the elimination of tariff and non-tariff barriers. These agreements allow for U.S. exports from both large and small confectionery companies and allow them to compete globally.

Labeling - FDA regulates the labeling of the majority of food and beverages in the Unites States, and NCA is dedicated to ensuring that the confectionery industry is aware of all industry labeling requirements.
