The International Confectionery Association (ICA) has appointed Salvatore Ferrara II as its new President. Mr Ferrara, Chief Executive of the FerraraPan Company, Chicago, Illinois, takes over from Hans Rysgaard of Toms Confectionery, Denmark, whose Presidency ends after two very successful years.
Sal has spent the last two years as Vice-President of the ICA. He has a wealth of knowledge of the confectionery industry gained from 30 years experience in his family-owned candy company. He is a member of the Board of the National Confectioners Association USA as well as being a former Chairman of the Association (1999-2002). He has been part of the organizing committee of the US All Candy Expo confectionery trade fair since its creation in 1995.
Also appointed to the position of ICA Vice-President is Jacques Ruh, President of CAOBISCO, the Association of the Chocolate, Biscuit and Confectionery Industries of the EU. Jacques has nearly 30 years experience at Masterfoods Europe and is Head of the Group’s External Affairs for Western Europe. Jacques became President of CAOBISCO in June 2004. In addition to these responsibilities he is also a Board Member of ANIA (the French National Association of Food Industries).
ICA represents and promotes the confectionery industry and the work of its member associations worldwide. We facilitate, coordinate and communicate international scientific, regulatory and public affairs information between our members while representing the interests of the confectionery industry in a collaborative and responsible manner. ICA members are the Confectionery Manufacturers of Australasia (CMA) the Chocolate and Cocoa Association of Japan (CCAJ), the Association of the Chocolate, Biscuit and Confectionery Industries of the European Union (CAOBISCO), National Confectioners Association USA (NCA), Confectionery Manufacturers Association Canada (CMAC), Brazilian Cocoa and Confectionery Manufacturers Association (ABICAB) and the Associacion Nacional de Fabricantes de Chocolates, Dulces y Similares, A.C. Mexico (ASCHOCO).
