Halloween 2007 Review

According to IRI, overall Halloween candy sales grew at a 2.6% rate in 2007. The strongest increase was turned in by mass merchants with a 3.3% increase. Supermarkets also had a strong Halloween season showing a 3.0 increase and drug stores grew 1.6%.

Sales of Halloween themed candies led the way with a 4.8% increase in chocolate Halloween themed candies and an 8.7% increase in non-chocolate themed candies. This trend which, started in 2005 shows retailers focused on packaging decorated with Halloween themes such as witches and goblins however, tonnage still comes from snack pack bags of candy.
