Annabelle Candy Company, Inc.

Annabelle Candy Company, Inc., was founded by Sam Altshuler in 1950 and was named the after his daughter, Annabelle. Mr. Altshuler’s breakthrough product was the Rocky Road candy bar, still made by hand today. It is one of the company’s top sellers and is especially popular with consumers in the West. In the 1970s, the company purchased Golden Nugget Candy and Cardinet Candy Company, and today Annabelle produces Big Hunk, Look!, U-NO and Abba-Zaba bars.

Today the family-owned company is led by President and CEO Susan Gamson Karl, granddaughter of the company’s founder. In May of 2012, Annabelle Candy Company was honored with California’s annual Small Business of the Year Award.
