Snyder’s-Lance, Inc.

Snyder’s-Lance, Inc. is the result of the 2010 merger of two companies that each had roots reaching back more than 100 years. Snyder’s of Hanover dates back to 1909 when Harry V. Warehime decided to sell his Olde Tyme Pretzels to the Hanover Pretzel Company.  Lance began in 1913 when Philip L. Lance began selling bags of roasted peanuts. Two years later the now famous peanut butter sandwich crackers were created and his business took off.

Since the merger, Snyder’s-Lance has completed a major transformation in 2015, which started with the acquisition of Snack Factory® Pretzel Crisps®,  and was followed by the divestiture of the Private Brands business, the acquisition of Baptista’s® Bakery and the acquisition of a majority stake in Late July® Organic Snacks.

Snyder’s-Lance, Inc. employs over 5,000 associates and is headquartered in Charlotte, N.C. with a large support office in Hanover, P.A.  The company manufactures and markets snack foods throughout the United States and internationally. Snyder’s-Lance’s products include pretzels, sandwich crackers, pretzel crackers, potato chips, cookies, tortilla chips, restaurant style crackers, nuts and other snacks. Snyder’s-Lance has manufacturing facilities in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Georgia, Arizona, Massachusetts, Florida, Wisconsin and Ohio. Products are sold under the Snyder’s of Hanover®, Lance®, Cape Cod®, Snack Factory® Pretzel Crisps®, Late July®, Krunchers!®, Tom’s®, Archway®, Jays®, Stella D’oro®, Eatsmart Snacks™, O-Ke-Doke® and other brand names.  Products are distributed nationally through grocery and mass merchandisers, convenience stores, club stores, food service outlets and other channels.

Snyder’s-Lance prides itself on being the maker of innovative, premium and “better for you” snacks.  As an example, to meet consumers’ increasing demand for gluten-free options, Cape Cod®, Snack Factory® Pretzel Crisps®, Eatsmart Naturals® and Lance® all have introduced certified gluten-free snacks available at many retailers nationwide.  Lance® introduced the first gluten-free sandwich cracker for consumers who desire savory, on-the-go fuel for the day. This is a major gluten-free product breakthrough as Snyder’s-Lance is the first company to pioneer this important innovation.

Committed to sustainability, Snyder’s-Lance has implemented recycling initiatives, as well as programs to conserve water and energy. In addition to its commitment to the environment, Snyder’s-Lance supports two main causes in the community: fighting hunger and supporting education. The company supports programs that supply food for the hungry and encourages programs for children K-8 to promote academic achievement, cultural awareness and healthy living.
