San Francisco — Made with 80% cocoa from Switzerland and coconut oil, new vegan Superdark Truffles from Alter Eco are Fair Trade, organic and have three grams of sugar per piece, according to the company.
“With plant-based diets on the rise and consumers looking for low-sugar options to satisfy their sweet cravings, we saw the perfect opportunity to launch our new Superdark Truffles,” says Mike Forbes, Alter Eco CEO. “Combined with the popularity of our best-selling truffle line and the widespread popularity of our Deepest Dark Super Blackout Bar, it was clear that uniting these two concepts would provide a revolutionary, irresistible treat. We’re excited to expand our truffle portfolio to include the new vegan option and to continue making our organic, fair trade treats and snacks accessible to as many consumers as possible.”
The vegan truffles come in 10-ct packs with a SRP of $7.99. Additionally, the chocolates come in counter displays holding individually wrapped truffles, which have a SRP of 89 cents.
The company is also adding 85% cocoa double chocolate coconut clusters and 90% cocoa Superdark Crisp Mint bars. Clusters come in 3.2-ounce pouches with a SRP of $4.79, while the new 2.65-ounce bars retail for $3.99.
Like Alter Eco’s entire line, the new products are USDA-certified organic, Fair Trade certified, carbon neutral, Non-GMO Project verified and gluten-free.
