The chickpea product is available in three varieties, dark chocolate, milk chocolate and mocha chocolate, and marks the company’s first foray into the confectionery category. The company describes the product as lightly roasted and crunchy whole chickpeas enrobed in chocolate and finished with a candy shell.
“I am truly excited about diving into the confection arena with our chocolate-covered chickpeas. At The Good Bean, I believe in sourcing the best possible ingredients and living mindfully, but I also believe in decadent indulgence,” says Founder and CEO Sarah Wallace. “I knew if I was going to take on the challenge of launching a chocolate chickpea confection, it couldn’t be mediocre; it needed to hold up against premium candy and confections in terms of taste, and this really does. I think people will be surprised and delighted at how incredibly delicious and unforgettable this product is.”
The product has three grams of protein and 130 calories per serving, according to the company. Made in small batches with Fair Trade chocolate and chickpeas grown in the U.S., The Good Bean maintains it is committed to sourcing minimally processed ingredients, adding the products are Non-GMO Project verified and certified gluten free.
The company’s Protein Snack Mix, a combination of crispy roasted favas and green peas has seven grams of protein and three grams of fiber per serving, according to the company. It is available in two flavors: sea salt and balsamic herb.
The Good Bean Chocolate-Covered Chickpeas carry a SRP of $4.50 per 3.5-ounce bag, while the snack mix has a SRP of $4.50 per six-ounce bag.
