Washington, DC — Five young professionals representing both large and small manufacturers and a well-respected category broker and a dynamic retailer make up the 2019 Future Leadership Program class of 2019. The NCA program, launched in 2016, provides support, education, access and opportunity to young professionals who wish to advance into the ranks of leadership.
“The Future Leadership Program is a valuable initiative for NCA as it advances the knowledge and leadership skills of the industry’s next generation of executives,” notes John Downs, NCA president and CEO. “I look forward to working with the future leaders as they will play a vital role in shaping the association’s next strategic plan.”
The members of the 2019 class are: Steve Casey, Melville Candy Co.; Natalie Herr, Russell Stover Chocolates LLC; Michele Polito, Dylan’s Candy Bar; Tessa Porter, Ferrara Candy Co.; and Mike Terroni, HWY Partners.
As part of the program, future leaders attend NCA’s State of the Industry Conference, the Sweets & Snacks Expo, NCA’s Summer Board & Leadership Strategy Meeting, the Washington Forum and the Candy Hall of Fame weekend. In addition to the educational and networking opportunities, program participants are matched with a highly regarded leader within the confectionery industry who will serve as a formal mentor.
The application process for the 2020 class will open in late summer, NCA reports. Those interested in applying for the program, or learning more about how to get involved as either a young professional or a mentor, should visit the NCA website. C&ST
