Irving, TX — Sour Patch Kids Watermelon Slurpee, the most popular limited-edition flavor in the semi-frozen drink brand’s history, is being relaunched at 7-Eleven, Inc. locations, the c-store chain reports.
Introduced in 2015, the sour-candy inspired beverage was the first limited-time flavor to become a top-seller, surpassing perennial favorites cola and cherry, according to 7-Eleven. The Mondelez International, Inc. product is the leading sour candy brand and the top-selling candy at the c-store chain.
“Slurpee-lovers really, really love Sour Patch Kids candy,” says Sean Thompson, 7-Eleven vice-president of marketing and acquisition integration. “We first approached Mondelez about creating a Sour Patch Kids Slurpee flavor after learning on social media that Slurpee fans were already adding the sour candy to their favorite drinks.”
In addition to the sour-candy Slurpees, Sour Patch Kids 7-Select Soda, made by Jones Soda Co., and two- and five-ounce bags of classic watermelon-shaped candy will also be available at select locations, the company reports.
