Hackettstown, NJ — For the second year running, Mars Wrigley Confectionery U.S., LLC’s American Heritage Chocolate brand will partner with non-profit First Book to create special teacher appreciation packages for educators working in low-income communities across the U.S., the candymaker reports.
Coinciding with National Teacher Appreciation week, the program will distribute copies of Great Moments In World History: Global Stories Where Chocolate Sparked Discovery, Innovation and Imagination!, a STEM-based curriculum put together by National Geographic Books and American Heritage. The books will be given to more than 1,200 teachers in the First Book network located in Chicago; Henderson, NV; Hackettstown, NJ; Newark, NJ and Washington DC, which all feature Mars Wrigley production facilities.
Educators will also receive product samples and promotion codes, which can be used to purchase additional books and resources on the First Book Marketplace, according to the company. Additionally, First Book will donate 9,000 books as part of the program.
“By partnering with First Book for the second year in a row, we are able to serve classrooms that might not have the resources to access historical sites such as Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, Colonial Williamsburg, The National Archives or the Smithsonian Institute. Giving back to these schools and communities is a major step in fulfilling the Mars family’s long-standing legacy in support of the mission of education.”
