Lufkin, TX — At this year’s Sweets & Snacks Expo Atkinson Candy Co. will unveil a brand refresh for Chick-O-Sticks, which will include new packaging, logo and product formulation, according to the candymaker.
“We want to make candies that consumers can feel good about,” says company President Eric Atkinson. “This isn’t a radical change in formulation, but a small tweak that will resonate with today’s ingredient conscious consumers.”
Updated Chick-O-Sticks will have simpler ingredients, with artificial colors red and blue being replaced by natural turmeric and vegetable juice concentrates, the company reports. The reformulated peanut butter and toasted coconut candies will also be free from hydrogenated oil, and artificial flavors and preservatives.
Rebranding of packaging and the logo will communicate the brand’s simplicity, wholesomeness and heritage, according to John Leipold, vice-president of sales & marketing.
“There are brand elements that are essential to the Chick-O-Stick and those won’t be going away, but we are making some changes to bring a younger demographic along,” Leipold explains.
