Zurich, Switzerland — Forever Chocolate, Barry Callebaut AG’s sustainability plan, was ranked number one in sustainability strategy for the packaged foods industry in Sustainalytics annual assessment of nearly 180 CPG companies, the supplier reports.
“What amazing recognition of our investments into a sustainable chocolate supply chain, to be considered the leader among peers,” exclaims Pablo Perversi, chief innovations, sustainability and quality officer at Barry Callebaut. “And what great news for chocolate lovers around the world. Together with our customers, our products are driving change, making sustainable chocolate the norm.”
Sustainalytics evaluates companies base on environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks in their supply chains and ranks them against other participating businesses, Barry Callebaut reports.
“The company is at low risk of experiencing material financial impacts from ESG factors due to its medium exposure and strong management of material ESG issues. Notably, its overall risk is higher since it is materially exposed to more ESG issues than most companies in our universe. Furthermore, the company has not experienced significant controversies,” Sustainalytics explains in its report on the chocolate supplier.
