Stoney Creek, Ontario — Jeff Billig has been named vice-president of marketing and business development for Bartek Ingredients Inc., while Heinrich G. Schaefer has been appointed international sales director for the malic and fumaric acid supplier.
The two hires come on the heels of the recent expansion of the company’s Ontario facility, which now has a 4,000 ton annual capacity, according to the supplier.
Billig brings 30 years of experience in food, pharmaceutical and specialty chemical ingredient industries, Bartek reports. During the past five years, he served as general manager for Delavau Food Partners and was previously business director for Ingredion, Inc.’s polyol and dry dextrose product lines in North America.
Based in Bartek’s new German branch, Schaefer brings extensive international food ingredient and specialty industries sales experience. He most recently was global sales director of HYET Sweet, a high-intensity sweetener supplier. Prior to that, he spent 23 years working for Jungbunzlauer Suisse AG, a supplier of biodegradable natural ingredients, where he oversaw the staffing and growth of its global sales team and extensive international distribution network, according to Bartek.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled about these additions to Bartek’s growing team,” Bartek CEO John Burrows says. “Both Jeff and Heinrich bring substantial industry experience and a breadth of skill sets that are critical in supporting Bartek as it continues to expand its presence as the global leader in malic and fumaric acid ingredients.”
