Washington, DC — The Confectionery Foundation has issued a call to students to participate in its Next Generation program at the 2019 Sweets & Snacks Expo. The program, in its eighth year, will take place on Wednesday, May 22, and allows students to gain an understanding of industry segments and career paths by meeting with mentors, human resource and industry professionals while visiting with some of the more than 800 exhibitors at the trade show.
Applicants must be 20 to 30 years old, currently enrolled in a degree program, interested in careers in the confectionery industry and prepared to submit a current resume and reference. Recommended areas of study include food science, business, IT and engineering. In addition, the foundation notes FIRST Robotics alums, and family members of industry employees are encouraged to apply.
Students who wish to apply can find more information at ConfectionLink.org/Students — enter NextGen in the invite code field.
As part of the program, the foundation runs a career fair with representatives from companies in the confectionery industry meeting one-on-one with participants about potential job openings and internship opportunities. Companies that wish to participate in the career fair can find more information at confectionlink.org/industry.
