Okmulgee, OK — CP Kelco U.S., Inc. has expanded production capabilities for Kelcogel brand gellan gum production at its Okmulgee plant. The move, which follows similar expansion at the company’s Wulian, China plant, was in response to growing global demand for biogum ingredients, according to the supplier.
Gellan gum is a soluble dietary fiber that is effective at low-use levels for forming gels. Benefits of ingredient include heat stability, transparent gel, excellent flavor release and reduced rubbery textures when compared to other gelling agents. Additional, Kelcogel is available in multiple grades include vegan and non-GMO certified.
“Our continued investment in our biogums plants, along with our focus on sustainability and safety, ensures that we meet our customers’ expectations for supply, quality and innovation,” says Thomas Laursen, senior vice-president of operations. “Along with the gellan gum expansion project kicked off at our Wulian, China plant in July, the Okmulgee project strongly positions CP Kelco with multiple supply points to support customers in every region globally.”
